Relative degree of plentifulness
- Merriam Webster Dictionary.
This today, I write from my heart to yours dear reader.
I hear you.
Concerns about money, about career, about family, health, purpose, expectations, its a lot!
Am I doing enough? Am I enough? I hear you, because I hear it too.
But enough is not a big enough (lol) word to describe you. The truth is you, as part of life, is abundance itself. I am writing to you today, in hopes that I may help you see it, even for just a moment because abundance is a state of mind that perceives quantity and plentifulness, this number is up to you, abundance, believe it or not, is simply a choice.
GARDEN CONNECTION
Take a moment of silence in your garden, look at a tree or a bush, breathe, look how many leaves there are.
An apple tree grows many apples, each apple has seeds that can grow many more trees and thousands more apples. Nature is by nature, regenerative. Take a moment to ponder this. Allow something so accessible as a plant in your garden to help shift your mind to see the abundance in nature.
PHOTOS ON THE WALL
Moving into a new home, this is a job on my list too, creating a family photo wall - or friends, or travel memories, your dog, just parts of your life you want to remember and celebrate. Details like this personalise your home and help elevate your mood because you are reminded of some of the best parts about life! - your connections and memories. Look at how much you have experienced, the love you have experienced and sometimes even lost. Let the emotion of the images settle in. You are still here, you are so blessed.
BOOKS
For me, I like to display books that mean something to me. I don't have Vogue or Kelly Hoppen books presented in my work space. I have the books that I love the most, I have ones I turn to for spiritual guidance, I have a lot of mindful, healing, healthy home kinds of books because they remind me of what my passion is when it comes to interiors. I look to them often as a support system and I have quite a few on display - I buy them more than I can keep up with to read really! Hundreds and hundreds of pages of inspiration, ready for me when I need them.
PRACTICE OF GRATITUDE
Stress is loud! You sometimes even raise your hands to your head as an attempt to resist how loud stress is in your mind.
There are ways to step out of stress by choosing gratitude and gee whizz that is easy to write, much harder to do.
For me, I have a sentimental old Laziboy I bought second hand as a nursery chair, we have since reupholstered it in a beautiful eucalyptus coloured fabric and this chair is my sacred space to sit and reflect on the things I am grateful for. This works better for me because its relaxing at the same time.
You may prefer to get out a journal and get some gratitude lists going, try and write as many things as you can think of. By the time you are done you will be seeing your life with very different eyes and the truth of how abundant it really is. If gratitude listing is new to you, don't beat yourself up if it's hard at first, this is why it's a practice.
MONEY
Money has been such a journey for me and continues to be.
I have gone from thinking it is one of the main problems in the world and resenting it, to feeling like I needed to put it first to now seeing it for what it is, an idea that we all agree on.
Diamonds are actually free, so is gold, gems and sapphires - it all just comes from the Earth. Food is free, it grows, the connection between that and having what you want is labour and then we place value on things.
Honestly I am still in a space of working on my perception of this myself but I know the more I focus on an abundant mindset, the better I feel about it, especially in these times we are currently experiencing. New Zealand has one of the highest living costs in the world right now and we are making choices to be resourceful with what we already have. One of my tricks is doing my own step class on my deck with music blasting, it's free and helps me feel amazing.
I think it's important to remember to be generous too. Even popping a packet of biscuits in the womens refuge donation box at the super market for example, a small gesture that you know will be someones comfort. What better way to feel abundant than to give.
If you have enjoyed this blog, please let me know I could go on and on! So maybe I will put together a part two, we will see.
I have just allowed my website to go live after a 8 month break and moving locations, buying a house and settling into a small village in New Plymouth. Writing is one of my hobbies so do sign up for the newsletter to stay in touch, I can't wait to get started on some new projects in my new home of Taranaki.
Have a fabulous day designing your life xx
