MASTER YOUR BEDROOM - MASTER YOUR LIFE

The Master bedroom is called this for a reason, you are the master of the house.

All those responsibilities to keep things functioning and life ticking over, especially if you have kids.

Yet so many people make comments to me that their bedroom is the least importance space in the house to them because no body sees it.

But you do, a lot.

You climb into bed after a long day and probably wind down with a book or a chat to your partner, you then wake up to it, to start your day.

That's quite a significant space in your life, can you see how a room that you don't love might impact on your mental space more than you realise?

Imagine waking up to a bedroom that reflects back your best you and taking on the day from the moment you open your eyes.

Here are some ways you can create a supportive and beautiful experience for a Master bedroom.

LAYERS

Rooms without soft furnishing layers look unfinished, the man of the house isn't going to appreciate 100+ cushions but a rug at the base of the bed zones the bed, especially if the room is big. A throw at the end of the bed offers extra comfort and an opportunity for textural differentiation.

Mixing and matching pillow cases and sheets will add interest without overcrowding and a headboard is a practical layer with a Feng Shui tick of approval.

OCCASIONAL CHAIR

Having a beautiful chair in the corner of the Master bedroom has effortless elegance.

It presents an opportunity to bring in some textural change like velvet or pattern and softens a corner.

Just be sure to keep it clear of laundry and clutter.

CABINETRY If custom cabinetry is in your budget, it is the best way to improve a bedroom.

The cabinetry itself becomes part of the architecture and can be expressed in so many ways. You can go for a profile for a classic look or an interesting handle or knob for character and charm all the while offering beautiful storage that will keep your belongings organised, surfaces clear and no awkward gaps from tallboys or dressers.

LIGHTING

Layered lighting is always a great way to utilise your spaces well, the right lighting will elevate your design and getting it wrong including the use of kelvins can ruin the colour choices in your space. Layered lighting such as a cleverly placed LED strip, or beautiful pendant really creates a vibe and communicates what this space is and who you are using it.

SYMMETRY

A Master bedroom looks better with symmetry. A centred bed with the same amount of space either side, identical bedside lamps, art work balanced on both sides or centered. This brings a feeling of equality for couples, safety in order and predictability and an elegant classic look.

COMPACT

with dressing table tops, use trays to place perfumes, hair brushes and things of everyday use. It will look collected and give them a clean line to look intentional.

The way it is presented also presents its value and you will feel more sophisticated for it with your grooming routine.

You are the main character of your own life, you are literally the center of your own universe (as we all are) so it's important you are serving yourself to help you show up in the world the way you want to.

Have a fabulous day designing your life x
