CULTIVATING COMPASSION - HOW TO USE YOUR HOME TO HELP YOU CHANGE THE WORLD

Updated: Mar 25

I've been waiting for the right time to write this and before I do I want to disclose that I do not use AI for my creative writing, and never will. If I cannot share from the heart then truly what is the point, why write at all. It is something I fear humanity is losing, falling through our fingertips. If you find a typo or spelling mistake, I'm not even sorry, consider it proof.

As you can see I'm a little vulnerable today, so what better time to do some creative writing.

Here we go.

We are living in some difficult times, not the kind of difficult we may have seen in the past but a new kind were there is an extreme amount of division between groups of people on all different kinds of topics. Without getting into any unnecessary details of what those opinions actually are, the main thing I am seeing is lack of compassion - on both sides of whatever side. We are not listening to each other.

Thing is, if you cannot find it in yourself to feel compassion for others - even more challenging for your perceived opponent, chances are you are not providing quite enough compassion for yourself.

"The acceptance of oneself is the essence of the whole moral problem and the epitome of a whole outlook on life" - Carl Jung.

So what I am saying, is to go easy on yourself.

Feel yourself soften with compassion for you.

Try these nurturing steps to find how to use your home to cultivate compassion.

REFLECT

Clean your mirrors, ensure your mirror has adequate lighting so you can see yourself clearly. If you're mirror is warped or unflattering, get a new one.

Be kind to yourself. Focus on what you like, understand that you are beautiful and its hard because so much in the world tells you that you aren't so that you buy something, thats all it is. You might say yes I am pretty but.., ok except you don't know that.., no. There is beauty in all things.

THE MASTER

The bedroom is often the last thing on the list for improvement because 'others don't see it'.

You do, a lot. You retreat to it for your most vulnerable space, sleep, escape, getting ready. I think its your most important space in the world. Invest in your sleep, you need it, breathable bedding, good pillows, make it pretty - like you darl.

IN YOU

I have a blog post called The sacred space and why you should find one. Taking time to sit with yourself and build a relationship with yourself, it will help you work through issues, gain clarity, reflect and choose self compassion.

BREAK UP WITH COMPARISON

We are exposed to perfect homes constantly. Comparison in itself is only relative. Its actually pretty ironic that the existence of comparison can only exist via another option yet that option is always relative to weather the comparison is negative or positive. So what is the point? Find ways for you to love it.

AND LOVE YOURSELF

I am very much in practice of the above, as I cultivate more compassion for myself I am finding less polarity in a situation and more compassion for everyone. I believe we are all capable of changing the world by creating our own lives and letting that be our puzzle piece to the whole to ripple through like a raindrop falling on still water.

READ THAT AGAIN One last thing, a little fun game, read the headlines above as a sentence.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blogs, I am so grateful that I get to do this and express myself with writing, hopefully you get a nice uplifting and empowering experience too.

Have a fabulous day designing your life x
